Green-fingered care home residents have shown their flower power to win a regional gardening competition.
Woodhorn Park in Ashington has claimed the Community Garden of the Year title for the north east, and will now go on to the Barchester in Bloom national final next month.
The contest was organised by care provider Barchester Healthcare to promote gardening and recognise the beautiful outdoor spaces at more than 200 homes nationwide.
Woodhorn Park gardener Robert Clark said: “It’s great to hear that we are regional winners and have made the national finals.
“We have put in so much work to get our garden to look its best. Woodhorn Park has three main features – the pit wheel, coal tub and a boat.
“We love our garden and are thrilled that the judges agree that it’s a very special space.”
