A care home has been given top ratings by residents in the latest survey.
Astor Court care home, in Cramlington, performed strongly in a nationwide survey – performing above the national average for the fourth year in a row.
It was given an overall performance rating (OPR) score of 970 out of 1,000 by residents and 840 by their families and friends, beating the national averages of 880 and 828, respectively.
Staff and residents raised a glass to their survey success as manager Nicola Bell thanked them for their help in the continued success of the home, which offers residential and dementia care to home residents and those needing a short break.
Now in its fifth year, the Your Care Rating survey is the country’s largest and most authoritative survey of care home residents and now of their families and friends as well.
Astor Court achieved scores of 984 for staff and care and 968 for choice. Their friends and families rated the standard of care for quality of life and staff and care with scores of 889 and 892 respectively.
Tara Gozer, home manager at Astor Court, said: “It’s great that not just our residents, but their families and friends value the care they receive at Astor.
“Most of our scores across the four themes are really positive. While we’re really pleased with our scores, we obviously want to get even better and the survey helps us do that by giving us direct feedback.”
“Families can also see at a glance which care homes are committed to raising standards and being transparent as they take part in the survey.
“Every care home resident, and their family and friends, should be able to speak up about their care and this is what the Your Care Rating survey does – it gives them a voice.”
Astor Court is owned by care providers Countrywide Care Homes.
The survey was compiled by leading research company Ipsos MORI with input from the care home operators taking part, plus the National Care Forum and Care England.
