Staff and residents at a Blyth care home are celebrating after it was rated ‘outstanding’ by inspectors.
The Oaks, in Durban Street, was given the top rating following an inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Inspectors were full of praise for the care residents received as well as the state of the home, all supported by a social worker, GP and relatives.
Home manager Sandra McConville said: “We have always known that we deliver excellent first class care at The Oaks. It’s nice that has now been acknowledged and verified by the CQC. We are very pleased with the outcome especially as it recognises the hard work and dedication the staff give to the residents.”
In the report, inspectors said “staff displayed warmth when interacting with people” while there was praise for the understanding and patience showed by the manager and staff towards the residents.
Residents and their relatives praised the ‘exceptional’ care with staff always keen to talk to residents and help cheer them up if feeling down.
Inspectors also found staff kept in-depth care plans on residents while were also knowledgeable about their needs.
