Cash boost for wildlife charity

A WILDLIFE charity in south east Northumberland has been given a cash boost.

Northumberland Wildlife Trust have received £9,000 from Northumberland County Council’s Green Infrastructure Fund.

The money will fund the management of a number of pond sites across the county, including Holywell and East Cramlington.

It will also allow the wildlife charity to install a new boardwalk, fix the fencing and repair public viewing facilities, which were damaged following recent acts of vandalism.

Steve Lowe, head of conservation, said: “The money from Northumberland County Council is most welcome as allows us to carry out work on our reserves which we wouldn’t normally have the funding to do such as installing the bird work and putting right the damage done by vandals.”
