APPLICATIONS are being sought from young people looking for financial assistance to take their skills in arts, sciences or sports to the next level.
Blyth Valley Trust for Youth can help young people who live or attend school in the former borough to attend a Centre of Excellence in their chosen field.
The young people up to the age of 21 will be highly proficient in their interest, just in need of financial help to reach higher standards.
Trust chairman David Garrett said: “These awards have been presented to local young people on an annual basis for almost 40 years.
“This year we have decided to make awards of up to £500 to suitable applicants, subject to them meeting specific criteria.
“Successful applicants will receive a Gilbert Barker Award in honour of the late Mayor and Alderman who started the trust.”
Anyone interested should request a form from The Blyth Valley Trust for Youth, c/o Blyth Sports Centre, Blyth, NE24 5BT.
