Celebrating life through camera lens

Students and staff at Northumberland College have helped launch a brand new publication of images to celebrate life in Ashington.

Working in collaboration with international photographer Julian Germain and bait, an Arts Council England Creative People and Places project, the Ashington District Star aims to encourage people to reflect on the local area both past and present.

Northumberland College art tutors Peter McCardle and Jacqui Dixon have been working alongside Julian and art students at the college to put together the unique publication which locals can enjoy for free.

For the next edition, the team are encouraging local people to get involved by sending in their own images to create a portrait of Ashington across a range of generations in ages one to 100.
