Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate the centenary of Ashington and District Male Voice Choir at its celebratory concert.
The choir was joined by the Academy Children’s Choir and guest soloists Anna Corcoran, who directs the Academy Choir, and the ever popular local soprano Susan Robertson.
A diverse programme showed the versatility of the choir with songs of many types, some of which have only recently been added to the repertoire.
The young singers performed by themselves before joining the men for a special song performed as a tribute to those lost in the Woodhorn Colliery disaster, also 100 years ago, and to Mike Kirkup, a former long serving president of the choir who passed away recently.
The night was compered by journalist and public relations specialist Ian Leech.
