A county library is launching a special collection of children’s books just in time for National Libraries Day.
Widdrington library was awarded a £100 prize for the highest percentage of children who completed last year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
Staff at Widdrington library asked pupils at Grange View Church of England First School to visit the library and help to choose books for the new collection which will be displayed as a special collection complete with commemorative bookplates to celebrate the award.
Widdrington library beat other Northumberland libraries in a competition to help the most children complete the Summer Reading Challenge, with completion rates rising from 79 per cent to 82 per cent.
Grange View Church of England First School visit the library regularly and helped the library achieve the increase in completions by promoting the challenge to friends and family.
