AN Ashington man has used his pedal power to raise more than £600 for charity.
Alistair Irving, 56, cycled more than 400 miles in 98 hours across the Pyrenees in Spain and France, raising £515 for Parkinson’s UK and £100 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The retired police officer is now taking it easy back home in Blackdene with his wife Alison and sons Craig, 21, and Stephen, 16.
He said: “It was hard but very enjoyable.
“I am pleased with the amount I have raised for both charities. Every little helps.
“I am looking to take part in more charity cycle rides next year, but for now, I could do with some rest.”
