A Blyth based charity is appealing for runners to take on this year’s Great North Run to raise funds for them.
ESCAPE, which operates a store in Keel Row Shopping Centre, and offers advice and information ranging from counselling to housing support for people who are affected by substance misuse, has five places available for runners who can pledge at least £220 in sponsorship money for the half marathon which takes place on September 13.
ESCAPE Volunteer Coordinator, Jennie Bell, said: “The Great North Run is a wonderful chance to be involved in a great regional event that attracts people from all over the world.
“Last year over 57,000 runners took part in the run and spaces are extremely limited, so if you’re local and you want to help give something back to your community we’ve got the perfect opportunity for you.”
Keel Row centre manager, Callum Reid, added: “I’d like to encourage the public of Blyth to help this amazing charity.
“Since ESCAPE joined centre in February we’ve had lots of positive feedback about the store and the great work they do; which is invaluable to the community in Northumberland.”
