Charity makes a difference to lives in county

There are countless organisations and individuals throughout south east Northumberland that make a difference to the lives of people in the county on a daily basis.

As part of Local Newspaper Week, we have selected one of those organisations to feature in our ‘Make a Difference’ initiative, to highlight the work being done in south east Northumberland.

Bedlington-based Leading Link was established in April 2011 as a social enterprise and became a registered charity in 2012.

Manager Lyn Horton said: “Our main objective is to link families, communities and schools together to move away from disconnected approaches led by individual institutions to a strategy uniting partners in the interest of young people in our area.

“We strive to advance capability, education and knowledge through our projects in order to help alleviate unemployment and poverty, whilst seeking to understand and tackle the dynamics of disadvantage in our area.”
