Charity’s funding for new courses

A county charity working to help and support people experiencing loneliness and isolation has been given a grant to provide a series of seven-week courses.

Real Deal Plus received funding from the European Social Fund (ESF) and will start the courses on Thursday, January 8, where members of the community are invited to attend and receive support in basic IT, job search, mock interviews, application forms, interview techniques and cooking on a budget.

The sessions are free and will run 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm, at the Ashington Life Centre (the former police station) in Station Road, Ashington.

Other days will be available and details will be announced in the near future.

The programme is aimed at supporting clients aged 19 and over who do not have the support of the work programme or who are in employment for less than 16 hours per week – but all are welcome.
