Charity walk in aid of three year old Kian
A kind-hearted woman will take on a charity challenge to help a north east youngster, despite being disabled herself.
Melissa Gibson was born with Myelomeningocele Spina Bifida, a neural tube defect, which has left her paralysed from the waist down and wheelchair bound.
But on Saturday, March 12, Melissa, of Blyth, will walk a short distance around Blyth Market Place, with the aid of crutches to raise funds for three-year-old Kian Musgrove.
Kian’s has a rare aggressive form of childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma, and his family are working to raise £500,000 to send him to America for treatment.
They have already had the backing of music mogul Simon Cowell who added £25,000 to the fund, but Melissa is now hoping her challenge will raise a further £1,000 to help the youngster.
Melissa said: “I will be pushing myself to my limits, using all my strength & energy in a bid to raise donations for Kian, who so badly needs treatment.
“If anyone would like to come and see me walk to raise this money they are more than welcome to and if anyone would like to donate for this superb cause, they can donate to me on my gofundme page at www.gofundme.com/jeqws9qk and donate online.”
