A YOUNGSTER from Blyth has raised £130 for a local charity by selling hand-made greeting cards.
Eleven-year-old Ryan Dixon only joined Silx Teen bar in July and has already made a big contribution to its fundraising efforts.
With the help of other young people at Silx , Ryan made birthday and get well cards to sell.
He then set up a stall at Blyth Charity Market as well as at Princess Ellie’s Charity Day, held in memory of two-year-old Ellie Long, who died from meningitis last year.
Ryan is also part of a KeyFund group and hopes to raise money for 20 young people to go ice skating.
Senior youth worker Jackie Long said: “It is great to prove to the public that young people are an asset to the community and do care about others.
“We always encourage all our young people to make positive contributions to the community.”
