A local choir has had a very early Christmas present when The Ridley Family Charity awarded Ashington and District Male Voice Choir a grant to assist with the updating and adding to its music library.

Many of the choir’s pieces of music are upto 50 years old and are priced in shillings and pence but can no longer be held together with sticky tape.

Some of the old pieces are well-known favourites, even in today’s repertoire.

But the choir has also been bringing in more contemporary pieces which audiences enjoy

The choir is currently starting to work on the programme for its forthcoming Christmas Concert.

It will once again be hosted by Holy Sepulchre Church in Ashington and is on Saturday, December 13, at 7pm.
