Choir joins stars for a charity gig

Talented singers from a Blyth-based group have teamed up with soap stars at a special concert to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The third ‘Christmas at the Cathedral’ concert took place at St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle last week, where the Swing Bridge Singers from Blyth-based 20,000 voices teamed up with David Leon from ITV’s Vera, Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall, international opera singer Sean Ruane, north east favourite Billy Mitchell, and Emmerdale actors Charlie Hardwick, Chelsea Halfpenny and Chris Chittel for an evening of entertainment.

The popular event, which was sponsored by law firm Clarke Mairs, featured a range of carols and readings to celebrate Christmas, all in support of The Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of 13-24 year olds diagnosed with cancer.
