Choppington man assualted in his home

A Choppington man has received hospital treatment after being assaulted by two men who broke into his home.

At 9.35pm on Monday, February 3, police received a report that two men had entered a house at Briar Close, Choppington, assaulted the occupant and stole electrical items.

The men are described as being in their 30s.

The occupant, a 52-year-old man, attended Wansbeck Hospital for treatment for cuts and bruises and has now been released from hospital.

Detective Sergeant Peter Morgan said: “We’re carrying out enquiries to establish exactly what has happened and we would like to hear from anyone who saw anyone suspicious in the area at around the time of the incident.

“The suspects may have left in a vehicle of some sort, so we would also like to hear from anyone who saw a vehicle leaving the area at that time.

“Local officers are out and about in the area in support of the investigation and to reassure the public.”
