Christmas is coming to county town

Christmas spirit will be overflowing in Newbiggin next week when a festive fair takes over the town.

The fair, on Saturday, December 12, will culminate in the town’s annual Living Nativity.

The Traders’ Association and Newbiggin Town Team have combined forces to bring some festive cheer to the day.

Town tean chairman Lynn Burns said: “We learnt a lot from our experience with the wonderful Vintage Weekend we had at Easter.

“It was very popular and a lot of people have asked when we would be doing something like that again. It’s great to work with the Traders to bring something like this to Newbiggin, and what better time of year to do it?”

Traders’ secretary Enid Wilson, added: “We are pleased to be able to work on something that is for the good of the town.

“We have some fantastic independent traders here, who are more than happy to get involved with their local community. This is something that can bring the community together and we want to extend that to any visitors who want to spend some time here.

“There will be something for everyone.”

There will be a lot of activities going on across the town, with Santa’s Grotto at Café Indulgence, music and stalls at Newbiggin Community Activity Centre, the Boxing Club are doing demonstrations and beside the Bank House Club, Glebe House Vintage will be hosting several craft and food stalls.

The finale of the day will be the Living Nativity at 3pm.
