Glen Anthony Watches has opened its first showroom and workshop in Ashington.

Owner Glen Jobling started the contemporary watch-making business three years ago, but has now expanded into the commercial unit in Wansbeck Business Park.

Customers can browse his products and see the manufacturing process in action.

He said: “I’m really excited to have a space where the public can come and not only view the products, but also see the watches being made.

“I use modern processes like CAD to design the individual pieces, but everything is still hand-finished. I think that the blend of old and new is really important to achieving a high-end final product.”

Mr Jobling specialises in bespoke men’s and women’s watches, with buyers able to choose bezels and straps, as well as engraving.

Glen was joined at the ribbon-cutting ceremony by business growth advisor Dionne Clark, from Business Northumberland, a programme that provides companies with one-to-one support to help them to understand their growth needs and implement an action plan.

She said: “Glen’s passion for watches, and creating a unique customer experience, is clear for everyone to see. Over the last year I have seen him grow from working out of a purpose-built workshop in his garden to now having his own retail space and developing his website and brand.

“I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
