A rowing club in the county has been awarded £5,000 to buy new equipment.
Cambois Rowing Club has been given the sum from the Coalfields Community Grant programme, delivered by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
The club encourages men and women of all ages from across the local area to improve their health, fitness and in some instances their social life through the provision of rowing, with members invited to train for nationally recognised competitive events or simply row for fun.
Head coach, Barry Hanley, said: “Rowing is a fantastic and entertaining sport, it encourages participants to maintain a healthy lifestyle whilst bringing members of the community together.
“Membership fees cover some costs but occasionally we need to purchase new equipment and unfortunately that doesn’t come cheap. “Thanks to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust we are now able to provide a new boat which will allow more people to take part in the sport.”
