Club raises cash in run

Members of a county running club have been raising funds for charity with an annual 10k run.

Ashington Hirst Running Club recently became a UK Athletics affiliated running club, and for their first event members took part in was the annual Druridge Bay 10k Charity Run in aid of Amble Lifeboat Shannon Appeal.

Lee Elder, from the club, said: “Club members decided to collect their weekly session fees and donate them to the appeal. We are delighted to have collected £100.”

A cheque presentation was made to Katrina Cassidy of Amble Lifeboat Fundraisers at Druridge Bay’s weekly Parkrun event.
