College teams up with ex-footballer for curriculum

A COLLEGE has signed up a former professional footballer to help deliver a new sports curriculum.

Northumberland College is launching a new elite curriculum in partnership with The Legacies.

The academy is aiming to develop the region’s best young sporting talent through a combination of sporting excellence and education.

Former Premier League footballer Trevor Benjamin, director of The Legacies, said: “This is a great opportunity for Northumberland and it’s best young sporting talent to stay in the region and train and study within their chosen sport.

“We are working with national governing bodies to develop a unique way of incorporating your academic studies into your sports performance programme, maximising your opportunities to enable you to become the best you possibly can.”

The college is holding a taster session at its Ashington campus today (Thursday), with registration at 10am. To book a place visit or alternatively contact The Legacies on (01670) 528423.
