Comedian set for his musical theatre debut

Cramlington comedian Ross Noble will make his musical theatre debut at the Sunderland Empire this May.

The Freewheeling star will take on the role of Franz Liebkind in a production of The Producers.

He will join the cast on Friday, May 15, as the short fused, carrier pigeon keeping, former Nazi brought on board by Max Bialystok and Leo Bloom to help them in their plot to put on the worst musical of all time.

Ross said: “When the opportunity came up to make my debut in the show a couple of days early in the north east, I jumped at the chance.

“I’m sure I’ll get a warm reception as a Geordie in Sunderland, but if they do have a problem with it, luckily I’m playing a German.

“I had a great time in Sunderland filming my TV show Freewheeling so it will be nice to be back this time causing a little less trouble.”

Ross will star alongside one of the UK’s best loved comedians, Jason Manford, as timid accountant Leo Bloom. Broadway and West End star Cory English as Max Bialystock.

The Producers is at the Sunderland Empire from Monday, May 11, to Saturday, May 16. Call the box office on 0844 871 3022 or visit www.atgtickets.com for tickets.
