I would like to thank everyone who has supported the Blyth Committee for Cancer Research UK, not only over the last year but for the last 52 years we have been raising funds for Cancer Research UK.
We are very appreciative of their generosity, especially at a time when the cost of living is so high.
We would like our supporters to know that we raised £11,200 during 2013.
This money will go a long way in developing new drugs and treatments to combat cancer.
We are very fortunate in the north east to have one of the best research centres in the world based in Newcastle, which is continually working towards new treatments and potential cures.
We would also like to thank the funeral directors who on receiving donations in memoriam pass the money on to us, therefore making sure it goes to the charity the families have nominated.
We have recently also received a cheque for the sum of £66 from Year 9 at The Blyth Academy who raised money through selling cakes, hot chocolate, paying to watch sports and collecting loose change etc.
As a committee we know how hard it is to raise funds, so a very well done to Year 9 and a big thank you from everyone who will benefit from this money.
If anyone is interested in getting involved in our committee or, in helping us to raise funds in the future, please contact Joanne Evans, area manager for Cancer Research UK, on (01661) 825916 and she will put you in touch with us.
Thank you on behalf of the Blyth Committee for Cancer Research UK
And the Blyth Committee for Cancer Research UK are holding a coffee morning to raise funds on Saturday, April 26, from 10am to noon at the Methodist Church Hall in Beaconsfield Street.
There will be a cake and bric-a-brac stalls.
