Commonwealth Flag to be raised in Northumberland
The Commonwealth Flag will be raised in Northumberland on Monday to mark Commonwealth Day, along with more than 750 Commonwealth Flags across 38 Commonwealth countries.
This will be the third year that local authorities and civic dignitaries, community groups and charities throughout the British Isles carry out local flag-raising events and ceremonies of dedication to mark Commonwealth Day - building on previous years highly successful events.
Northumberland’s event will take place at County Hall, in Morpeth, and the public are invited to attend. During the ceremony, the council’s Civic Head, Coun Kath Nisbet, will read a specially-written Commonwealth message from The Queen.
The flag-raising ceremony will take place next to the Viking Statue at the entrance to County Hall, Lonsdean. Be there for 9.55am.
