A community hub that helps disadvantaged children in south east Northumberland has been awarded a grant of £10,000.
The annual BBC Children in Need appeal has donated the cash to Pegswood Community Hub.
The grant is for one year to help the organisation make a difference to more children in the area.
The money will be used to create a Monday evening drama group, Tuesday and Wednesday evening after school groups, Wednesday evening dance groups for four to eight-year-olds and nine to 14-year-olds, Christmas, Easter and summer holiday activity events, days out, and half-term activity days.
Peter Stonell, chairman of the trustees at Pegswood Community Hub, said: “We could not offer this range of opportunities to children in Pegswood without the support of BBC Children in Need.
“This grant will go on to change the lives of so many children and give them the support they need.”
A summer playscheme kicked will run until Wednesday, August 6, from 10am to 2pm where there be various arts, crafts, games and fun for children from four to ten-years-old.
Entry will be £5 and all children need to bring a packed lunch and clothing for messy activities.
