Community projects in Cramlington have been awarded extra funding from the town council.

At it’s meeting last week, Cramlington Town Council donated £500 each to the Blagdon Amateur Thespian Society (BATs) and Cramlington Archers to help support their projects.

A further award was made to Hillcrest School to help with the purchase of bikes and equipment for the school.

BATs will be putting the money towards new pantomime costumes for their annual Christmas performance.

The Cramlington Archers are a recently founded club which will provide coaching, practice and use of equipment to their members.

The council’s contribution comes from its Community Chest Fund which is available to all local voluntary groups working in Cramlington.

Chair of Cramlington Town Council, Jean Whisson, said: “We are delighted to contribute to our local groups and to help develop their activities.

“Cramlington Town Council is committed to supporting community groups and our Community Chest Fund helps good causes needing a financial boost develop projects that can make a difference.”
