Charities depend on the dedication and determination of people who raise money for good causes.

Fundraisers do not often get the praise or recognition they deserve, but thanks to the Pride of Northumberland Awards they will.

Organised by Northeast Press, publisher of the News Post Leader, Morpeth Herald and Northumberland Gazette, and Tweeddale Press, publisher of the Berwick Advertiser, the awards are in their fifth year and Northumbrian Water is sponsoring the year’s Fund-raiser of the Year category.

Volunteering and raising money for charities is close to the hearts of people who work for the water company.

Volunteers from the company have adopted the international charity WaterAid and raised £150,000 in the last year.

Alistair Baker, communications and PR manager for Northumbrian Water, said: “What our people do in both company and their own time is fantastic – but it’s not unusual. Legions of people in the north east are committed to doing everything they can to make other people’s lives better.

“We can all be proud of what is achieved day in and day out and those efforts can now be rewarded by nominating people to receive the honour to be named Fundraiser of the Year in the Pride of Northumberland Awards.”

There are ten categories for which you can nominate your heroes – Child of Achievement, Community Champion, Child of Courage, Safer Community, Sporting Achievement, Community Group, Fundraiser of the Year, Student of the Year, Green Champion and Role Model.

The winners will be announced at a dinner at Linden Hall, near Longhorsley, on Thursday, September 12.

To nominate your hero fill in the form below and send it to Dawn Owens, Pride of Northumberland, 17 Newgate Street, Morpeth, NE61 1AW or visit
