Flame Heating Spares, which operates seven sites across the region including Ashington, raised £2,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support through its Flame Heating Spares Raceday at Newcastle Racecourse.

John Savage, managing director of Flame Heating Spares, is to make the raceday a permanent fixture in the company’s fundraising calendar, with a new charity or local cause supported each year.

He said: “It was a fantastic evening of racing, with plenty of enjoyable moments and entertainment, in support of a very worthwhile cause.

“I am proud that we were able to be a part of such a momentous occasion in Newcastle Racecourse’s history. I would like to thank our clients, family members and friends for their support of the event.

“We will now be carrying on this tradition by hosting an annual event at Newcastle Racecourse for a deserving cause.

“We have enjoyed great success in a short period of time since launching the company, so it is important to give back to the community and recognise those who have supported us and made Flame what it is today.”
