Could you box clever for Marie Curie?

Marie Curie is appealing to the people of Alnwick to help raise money by looking after collection tins.

The charity needs more people to help manage boxes that are in shops, bars and restaurants throughout the area, especially in the town. The money raised helps to provide one-to-one nursing care for terminally-ill people in their own homes.

Katie Searles, local community fund-raiser, said: “Looking after the collection tins is a really effective way to help support local Marie Curie nurses.

“We’re looking for people who can visit sites in their local area once every three months to replace the full tin with an empty one, then count and bank the money raised.”

The more money that is raised, the more people in Northumberland living with a terminal illness can access free Marie Curie nursing care, enabling them to be at home, surrounded by their families and the things they hold most dear in their final days.

There are also some opportunities to collect for The Great Daffodil Appeal in Alnwick.

This only happens once a year, so if you are able to spare an hour or two, contact Katie on 0191 219 1205 to book onto a collection.
