Council elects new chairman for the year

A new chairman has been elected at Cramlington Town Council.

At the council’s annual meeting last week, Coun Jean Whisson was elected as the new chairman, who will take over from the outgoing Coun Ann Mitcheson.

Coun Whisson said: “The town council is very proud of its achievements. In particular, the Cramlington Partnership between the town council and Northumberland County Council.

“The quality of service we are now receiving is only what the people of Cramlington deserve and we will endeavour to see this partnership go from strength to strength.

“We have listened to members of the public, and taken their concerns and requests seriously.

“Cramlington Town Council is to build and improve on its current initiatives and service delivery.

“We want our services be excellent and offer value for money to the rate payers, and we will only make precept increases in line with inflation.

“We know that communication has been something we need to improve on and we will concentrate our efforts this year to reaching out to residents and making sure they are communicated with and heard.”
