A new national campaign is under way to showcase Northumberland’s tourism experiences.
The Northumberland Gateway campaign will increase awareness of the county as a short and long break destination.
It will target people within reasonable drive time to the county.
Marketing activities include two weeks promotional airtime on radio within the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas, station advertising across the Manchester Metrolink network, and rail station advertising in Glasgow, Manchester, York, Edinburgh and Leeds.
A new micro website linked to www.visitnorthumberland.com has also been set up, with competitions and prizes which have been donated by businesses and destinations from across the county.
Northumberland county councillor Val Tyler, policy board holder for community infrastructure and culture, said: “This campaign is proving to be a huge success in terms of showcasing the beauty of our county and the fabulous range of attractions.
“We have been delighted by the response from people all over the country and I hope we can continue this success as the campaign progresses.
“The profile of the county has never been higher and I am sure many more people will be planning a trip to Northumberland in the near future.”
