County team wins 2,000 mile car rally

A team of mechanics has won an endurance test for Macmillan Cancer Support by travelling across Europe in a Taxi.

Team TerraClean has won the Two Ball Banger Rally for the second year in succession, raising more than £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team, from Cramlington, travelled more than 2,000 miles across ten European countries in a “monster truck” taxi with a Land Rover Discovery chassis, nicknamed Maggie.

The Two Ball Banger Rally is an epic European road trip, which in 2015 was as popular as ever with a record number of teams entered.

The TerraClean team successfully negotiated a challenging route through northern France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Monte Carlo and southern France where they were crowned rally winners 2015 in Nice.

Phillip Dowd, TerraClean sales director, said: “I would like to thank first and foremost the people and companies that have supported us and donated so kindly to Macmillan Cancer Support. They have been instrumental as we spent numerous hours rebuilding the taxi and taking it across Europe to compete and win the Two Ball Rally, raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in the process.”
