COURSE: Opportunity for youths

The Rotary Club of Great Britain and Ireland is comprised of a number of individual Districts.

District 1030, which covers much of the north of England, including Blyth, annually provides a course to allow youths to learn and/or demonstrate their individual leadership skills in an outward-bound type of environment over a five-day period.

The next Rotary Youth Leadership Awards course will take place in the first week of August 2016.

The age range of participants is 16 to 20 years (those under 18 years will need to provide parental/carer authorisation).

For several years the course has been held in the Haydon Bridge area, and it is anticipated that the same venue will be used for the 2016 course.

The cost of the course, including transport costs, will be met by the Rotary Club of Blyth.

The scheme has run for a number of years, with the vast majority of participants gaining valuable experience and forming good social relationships with kindred spirits.

Applications to take part in the scheme are requested from interested people who live or work in the Blyth Valley area.

Individual rotary clubs will select participants from their own areas. The Rotary Club of Blyth hopes to select two local representatives to take part in the scheme.

The closing date for applications will be Friday, March 4.
