Swimmer Adam Wilson.

Adam Wilson, who student at Cramlington Learning Village, competed in the British Summer Nationals at Ponds Forge in Sheffield against the best in the country.

Wilson, from Cramlington, swims for Newcastle Swim Team and is coached by Andrew Thirlwell and head coach Ryan Livingstone.

He said the coaching and fantastic team spirit helped get him on the podium for what was said by championships commentators to be a phenomenal 1500m freestyle swim technically and tactically, as he knocked 21 seconds off his best time to win a silver medal and finish second in the country.

But he was not finished, having earlier in the day qualified for the final of the 400m individual medley. So only a couple of hours after competing in the 1500m he went into the 400 individual medley final he secured a bronze medal.

Wilson is back in training and looking forward to the short course season starting in September.
