Cramlington’s Doxford Youth Project has landed a grant of almost £10,000 from the BBC’s Children in Need charity, and it has now joined forces with pharmacy chain Boots to raise further funds.

The project, founded in 2003 to organise activities for teenagers in Bedlington and Cramlington to help steer them away from anti-social behaviour, was given £9,985 by Children in Need.

Young people involved in the project and Boots regional manager Allen Dickinson have organised joint events including a no-smoking session and a fundraising event at Newcastle’s Eldon Square Boots store.

The latter raised £660 for Children in Need to thank it for supporting the project.
