62-year-old driver is robbed at knifepoint

A MAN was threatened with a knife and robbed of cash as he sat in his car in Blyth in the early hours of Sunday.

The 62-year-old was approached by a man and woman asking for a lift home in Carlton Street between 3.50am and 4.15am.

The male offender then pulled out a knife and threatened him, before making off with a small quantity of cash, leaving him shaken but uninjured.

The robber is described as white, around 30, with acne scarring on his face. The woman was white, in her late 20s and had dark hair.

Inspector Trevor Oakley, of Blyth’s neighbourhood policing team, said: “This was an unusual incident, and I’d appeal for anyone who was in Carlton Street and may have seen anything to contact us.”
