A MAN has been arrested after police saw him breaking into a car in Cramlington.
Community support officers (CSOs) on patrol on the afternoon of May 24 saw the offender break into a Land Rover in Smithy Square.
He was detained by the CSOs until police officers arrived and arrested and subsequently charged him with attempted theft from a motor vehicle.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Mick Aspey said: “Community support officers do an excellent job in helping officers reduce crime and disorder in Cramlington.
“It was as a direct result of the quick thinking of the CSO in Smithy Square that we were able to make an arrest.”
