Cars and houses hit by vandal rampage

CARS and houses were left damaged by a spate of vandalism in Cramlington.

Yobs targeted cars and property in the Allensgreen, Cambo Drive and Callaly Avenue areas of the town overnight on Saturday.

A wooden fence and shed door were broken in Allensgreen between 11pm and 1am.

Vandals threw a bucket of paint over a house window in Cambo Drive between 8pm and 6am, and a Citroen’s wing mirror was damaged and a Mazda’s windscreen smashed at around the same time.

Between 7pm and 6.50am, vandals broke bits off a fence in Callaly Avenue and used them to batter a car roof.

Neighbourhood inspector Dave Fitzgerald said: “This mindless vandalism was carried out by people who have a complete disregard for other people’s property, and there is no place for that in our communities.

“I’d ask anyone who saw what happened or with any information to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information can call police on 03456 043043 ext 69191.
