CRIME in and around Newbiggin over the last three months is down 8.5 per cent on the same quarter last year, town councillors have been told.

The council also learnt from community support officer Gemma Robson that an unofficial bike track at Long Park regarded as a nuisance by neighbours was being flattened.

It was also reported that wardens were concentrating on parking problems in the town’s Front Street and Gibson Street.

Beat officer Anthony Patterson had moved on and been replaced by Pc Nathan Brown, the meeting heard.
