Elderly woman threatened during burglary

AN elderly woman was left shaken after a burglar broke into her home in the early hours of Saturday and demanded that she hand over money.

The burglary took place at 4.15am in Barras Avenue West in Blyth.

The intruder stole various items before making off, leaving the woman shocked but otherwise unhurt.

Dc Alison Felton, of the police’s Northumberland CID team, said: “The elderly victim has been left incredibly shaken and upset by this incident.

“I’d urge anyone with any information to contact police immediately so we can find who is responsible.”
