A POLICE officer is returning to her Bedlington roots as the town’s new neighbourhood inspector.

Inspector Karen Murray, who lives in the Bedlington area has almost 15 years experience with the force.

After joining Northumbria Police in 1996, she has worked in Newcastle’s west end and Wallsend before transferring to Northumberland in 2003, where she spent time in Bedlington, Ashington, Blyth and Alnwick.

Insp Murray said: “I’m looking forward to the new challenges that lie ahead and continuing to build good relationships with partners, councillors and the community itself.

“As a resident of the area myself I know what the issues are and I’m committed to providing the best possible policing service for the people living in and around Bedlington.

“I encourage the community to make the best use of their local policing team.

“If anyone has concerns about crime and disorder where they live, needs security advice or more information about what work is being done in the area then they should get in touch.”

Police can be contacted on the new non-emergency number 101.
