A man who suffered serious head injuries after being assaulted in Northumberland has died in hospital.

Police have this afternoon announced that Jason Glancey, 45, of The Oval, in Blyth, passed away this morning.

The incident happened on Stanley Street, Blyth, in the early hours of Sunday, April 30. Mr Glancey was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, for treatment.

Two men had previously been charged in relation to the assault; a 22-year-old charged with unlawful wounding and a 21-year-old charged with common assault. They have both been released pending further inquiries.
