Man is assaulted in break-in at school

A member of staff at a school in south east Northumberland was assaulted with a golf club when two men broke in to the building this week.

It happened on Monday after police received a report of a burglary at the Cambois First School premises in Cambois Farm Road shortly before 7pm.

Two men broke into the school building and stole a small amount of cash and a golf club.

But the burglers were disturbed by a school employee during the break-in, which resulted in the two men assaulting him with the golf club.

An ambulance was called to the scene and the victim was checked over after suffering minor injuries from the attack.

Police enquiries are ongoing into the incident and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
