Man kicked in robbery

A MAN needed hospital treatment after he was punched and kicked by two robbers when he refused to hand over his mobile phone.

The 29-year-old was cycling along Ashington’s Castle Terrace, shortly after 1am, on Friday, November 9, when he was approached by the pair.

He refused to hand over his phone and was attacked.

The man was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital where he was treated for a cut to his head.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on 101, ext 69191.
