Search to find motorcyclist involved in Northumberland hit and run

A search is ongoing to find motorcyclist involved in suspected hit and run in Blyth.

Police officers were flagged down by witnesses following a collision between a small 50cc motorcycle and a cyclist on Links Road, near the Mermaid car park shortly before 1.45pm on Saturday, March 20.

The 52-year-old cyclist was given medical treatment at the scene by officers but thankfully did not require hospital care.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “The male driver of the motorcycle has then fled the area as officers arrived on scene and inquiries to identify and locate him are now ongoing.

“A number of witnesses have already come forward and investigating officers are reviewing CCTV as part of their inquiries.

“However, we are asking for any witnesses still yet to speak to officers to come forward to help with inquiries.”

The rider, or anyone who witnessed the collision, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 591 20/03/21.
