Teenagers arrested over fire at former school site

TWO teenagers have been arrested following a fire at a derelict school in Blyth.

Police and firefighters were called out to the former Wensleydale Middle School at 8.24pm on Wednesday last week to tackle the blaze.

No one was injured in the fire.

Two 16-year-olds were arrested nearby and have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Police are warning people to stay away from the old Dent Street school, closed in 2009, as the fire has left it in a potentially dangerous condition.

Any witnesses able to offer information on how the fire was started are asked to call police on 03456 043043 ext 69191.
