Northumbria Police has received reports that people are receiving emails claiming to be from TV Licensing, with links to a website.

The site asks them to enter personal and financial details. People are then contacted by fraudsters who claim to be from the fraud department of their bank.

The fraudsters tell people their bank account has been compromised and that they need to transfer their money to a new “safe” account.

If in doubt, go direct to the official TV Licensing website and use its contact details to query anything. Contact your bank directly if you have provided your financial details.

Report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 and an officer will be in touch.
