Officers were called at around 6.48am to reports that a cyclist had collapsed on Plessey Road. It is believed the man had suffered a medical episode and that no criminal offence has occurred. He is currently in hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Officers do not believe there is any link between this incident and a collision outside the ASDA on Cowpen Road. A Fiat Punto carrying two men and two women crashed at around 6.50am before the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
