I would like to respond to the letter ‘Keep dogs on their leads’ (News Post Leader, August 21).
While the author raises a valid point of owners keeping their dogs on leads, letting them roam, during a walk, is obviously good for them; retaining full animal control is the main issue.
In addition, however, cyclists must also bear some responsibility, given I too have witnessed fast travelling riders giving no advance warning of their own approach and expecting right of way ... even with walkers.
The author also quotes the Highway Code, however, these rules are only advisory and not law.
